Likino Bus Plant
Likino Bus Plant (LiAZ) has been producing passenger buses since 1959.
The large urban bus LiAZ-677, created in 1967, is particularly well known. Over the course of the next 25 years, more than 200,000 LiAZ-677 buses were produced. At the 1972 Leipzig International Trade Fair, the LiAZ-677 was awarded both a gold medal and a First Class Diploma.
During the 1980s the plant was retooled to allow it to produce large LiAZ-5256 city buses. Series production of these buses began in 1990.
Today, LiAZ is a modern company boasting the state-of-the-art technical facilities necessary for the series production of large city buses meeting European standards.
The company uses production equipment from the brands Jeico (Italy), Kaltenbach (Austria), Nakata (Japan), Schlatter (Switzerland), Esab (Sweden), Halbron, Trumatic (Germany) and others.
Since 2000, the plant has developed a number of new models of city bus, and production of extra-large capacity LiAZ-6212 city buses and LiAZ-5256 R suburban buses has begun. Preparations are currently under way for production of low-floor city buses.
